BMC launching the first Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in Thailand.
Bangkok Helicopter Services Ltd., in association with Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Hospital Medical Center will be launched the first helicopter emergency medical service in Thailand.
Bangkok Helicopter Services Co., Ltd., in association with Bangkok Dusit Medical Service Group comprised of Bangkok Hospital Medical Center (BMC), Samittivej Hospital Group and BNH Hospital jointly launched the new Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS or Sky ICU) and Flying Limousine service. BMC HEMS is inaugurating the first commercially life-saving certified Helicopter Emergency Medical Service ever offered in South East Asia, utilizing the twin-engine helicopter model EC 145 which is specially designed and certified for Emergency Medical service operation. This helicopter will always be operated in dual-pilot mode FAA Category A (ICAO Class I) Operations with VFR/IFR capability of both day – and night – time flights and during poor weather conditions.
The medical team is comprised of certified and experienced aviation medicine physicians and registered nurses with critical care and emergency nursing experience. All the medical crew members are trained in trauma, cardiac, neonatal, obstetrics, pediatrics, burn patient care, and in laboratory proficiency skills. The service includes on-site patient stabilization and medical treatment, air ambulance providing point-to-point patient transfer, and all the suitable medical equipment. The Helicopter has a range of 600k and will be able to cover all the provinces in Thailand and neighboring countries in Indochina and its maritime areas. For flying limousine service, customers can rent the helicopter to travel around Thailand and neighboring countries by the proficient pilot and well-equip facilities within. This is aim to provide the convenience to business person who need to get to the destination in rush hour.
Capt. Puttipong Prasartthong-osoth, Managing Director of Bangkok Helicopter Services Co., Ltd. said that this brand new helicopter model EC 145 was ordered from Europe by Eurocopter Co., Ltd. and the engine was made by Turbomecca Co., Ltd. in Germany. This helicopter is highly efficient with the maximum speed of 268 kilometers per hour and the maximum range of 680 kilometers without any need to refuel. The large cabin and high ceiling is appropriate for medical equipment including patient stabilization, medical treatment and advance life support equipment.
Dr. Chatree Duangnet, Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Hospital Medical Center says there are two helicopter landing points. One is located at the Bangkok Hospital Building and the other at the Bangkok International Hospital building, providing point-to-point patient transfer and all the suitable medical equipments needed in order to stabilize and give medical treatment to patients in time. Dr. Chatree also emphasizes that the faster you can transfer your patients to a hospital the better chances they have to recover.
The Bangkok Hospital Medical Center comprises of four hospitals namely Bangkok Hospital, Bangkok Heart Hospital, Wattanosoth Hospital and Bangkok International Hospital. Each hospital is specialized in specific areas which provide holistic consultation and treatment for patients by team of expert from all fields.
